Travel to Amusement Parks

All travelers, but especially families taking annual family vacations, love to travel to amusement parks: Disney World, Disneyland, Dollywood, the various Six Flags parks, etc. There are themed amusement parks and/or water parks both large and small in every state in the Union, and they all make great vacation destinations.

The entertainment at amusement parks and water parks is all family-oriented. There are no shows that don’t welcome even small children. The emphasis is on innocent fun.

If you and your family are planning a vacation to an amusement or water park, you need to plan ahead. If you intend to travel during the “tourist season,” you had BETTER make plans or you’ll find yourself sleeping in your car. The summer months are the busiest times at most amusement and water parks.

Disney World in Orlando, Florida, is an exception. This tropical state is afflicted with hurricane season during the summer months, so the prime times to see Disney World is during the late fall, winter, or spring.

If money IS an object, hotel accommodations further away from the amusement parks are usually less expensive than those near or in the parks. Food and drink inside an amusement park is sold at premium prices. The vendors have the market cornered, and they can pretty much charge what they want.

Eating a meal before you go to an amusement park, taking a bottle of water for each person with you, and avoiding buying soft drinks and food inside the amusement park can save a lot of dollars.

Also, buying tickets in advance is usually far less expensive than buying tickets at the gate. Often amusement parks have sales promotions, and tickets and ticket packages are offered at deeply discounted prices.

Travel - Safari Parks

A vacation to a safari park is much like a trip to a zoo, except so much bigger and better. There are no cages. The animals live in natural habitats, and the visitors drive their own vehicles through the safari park or take transportation provided by the park.

The interaction between safari park visitors and the animals in the park can be up close and personal. Sometimes the animals seem to think that the visitors are there for them to inspect, and they will come right up to the vehicle for a closer inspection of the strange creatures (humans).

The animals in most safari parks are the ones that you would expect to find antelope, lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, and zebras. If you look closely, you will see many other species as well.

There are safari parks all over the world. Because Africa is the natural habitat for so many of the wild animals that we are all familiar with, there are more safari parks there than in any other country in the world. There are at least 14 safari parks in Africa and possibly more.

But you don’t have to go to Africa to visit a safari park. There are at least six safari parks in the United States. Some of the larger safari parks you will find in the USA are:

Florida: Loxahatchee (Lion Country Safari)

California: Irvine (Lion Country Safari); San Diego (San Diego Wild Animal Park)

Texas: Grand Prairie (Lion Country Safari)

Oregon: Winston (Wildlife Safari)

Additionally, there are safari parks in many countries around the world England, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, and Mexico, for example.

Safari parks are the destination of travelers around the world. We are fascinated by the wild animals of the world, we always have been, and we always will be.
