Caribbean Cruise Ship Destination Port - A Super Tour of Downtown Nassau

Article Source: Disney Cruise Line – http://routebyroad.com

If you have booked a Caribbean cruise, one of the destinations that you may be lucky enough to visit is the city of Nassau on the island of New Providence. It is part of the Bahamas and is a beautiful place that has lots to offer if you are planning to go onshore for the few hours that you will be there.

Here are just a few of the highlights that you will be able to see if you decide that you would like to take a leisurely wander around. You can take an independent walking tour where you will be able to see the main attractions of Nassau within the space of an hour. It will likely be very hot so before you set off, make you take a bottle of water with you and apply a good amount of suntan lotion.

Things To See In Downtown Nassau

Once you pass through the Port Authority Building, where everyone who is entering the country has to walk through, you will find that many tour operators will be trying to get your attention in order to entice you with one of their day trips and excursions.

If you just want to take a walk around the town, then simply pick up a complimentary city map which you will find on one of the many counters or on the wall display area. Open up the map and you will find a diagram with the heading Downtown Nassau.

Everything that is of interest has been highlighted on the map. And you do not need to worry because it is all within walking distance. You may be walking slower due to the heat but it is all still within reach.

Rawson Square

One of the first things that you will see as you take your leisurely walk is Rawson Square. Here you will discover a bust of Sir Milo Butler. He was the first Bahamian born Governor General from 1973 1979. The Bahamas was a British colony until its independence in 1973. The bust is made out of bronze and was unveiled in 1986.

Parliament Square

Just opposite Rawson Square is Parliament Square. This area contains the House of Assembly, the Senate and the Supreme Court, all of which were all constructed during the early 1800s and are painted in a striking pastel pink. There is a small statue of Queen Victoria that sits in front of the whole square. It is made out of marble and shows the Queen wearing robes of state and holding an orb and sceptre in each hand.

These are just a few of the sites that you will see as you walk around Nassau. There is plenty more to discover and you will also have plenty of time to shop for hand made crafts and gifts to remind you of your visit to the Island.

India is a land of inherent spirituality and people have been known to travel here to find solace in its ancient wisdom since time immemorial. India is called the “yogabhoomi” and the gateway to the heavens. Innumerable saints and seers, in their quest for knowledge, have contributed largely to the development of various religious monuments viz. Temples, Mosques, Monasteries etc. built lavishly across the length and breadth of the country. The kind of cosmopolitan existence India has is best reflected in its pilgrim centres. Religion is the heartbeat of the nation and the followers of all the major religious and sects, viz., Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, Zororastrianism have lived here for centuries. Together has come up temples, mosques, gurudwaras, churches, synagogues and religious and spiritual centres. For untold centuries, the powerful triad of the sun, the sea and the sand have pooled their resources to present spectacular effects and memorable experiences to a cross section of people from all over of the globe. India has almost a 6,000 km long coastline, which is home to some of the finest beaches in the world. Both the West and East Coast of India offer verdant vistas of palm on the Arabian Sea shores or the Bay of Bengal. On the west coast there are miles of sandy beaches broken into attractive bays by rocky headlands. The most popular ones are the beaches of Goa and Kovalam at Kerala. The beaches on the eastern coast are less well developed. The best known are the beaches of Mahabalipuram and a small but exquisite beach in Orissa called Gopalpur-on-Sea.

The Travel and Tourism industry holds tremendous potential for India’s economy. It can provide impetus to other industries, create millions of new jobs and generate enough wealth to help pay off the international debt. That is why we have included Tourism amongst the Core Sectors of the Indian Economy.

Grand Canyon Tour Puts a Different Perspective on Life

TOP TRAVEL DESTINATIONS – http://routebyroad.com

The Grand Canyon National Park is deservedly classed as a World Heritage Site. It has an area of 1,218,375 acres, 1,904 square miles. Most of the park is maintained as wilderness. It can be seen from the moon and is something that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

The Grand Canyon lies on the Colorado Plateau in northwest Arizona.

The Canyon, carved over millions of years by the Colorado River, is immense. It averages 4,000 feet deep for its entire 277 miles. It is 6,000 feet deep (a mile is 5,280 feet) at its deepest point and up to 15 miles wide.

The Grand Canyon National Park is a rich and varied biological habitat with 75 species of mammals, 25 species of fish, 50 species of reptiles and amphibians, 25 species of fish, and over 300 species of birds. These include some species that are not found outside the Park at all.

Human activities have impacted on the Grand Canyon National Park in many ways. These include the introduction of non-native plants and animals, the contamination of streams with fecal bacteria, haze caused by air pollution and worst of all by the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963. Our aircraft, quad bikes and automobiles disturb the tranquillity of the Park.

You can see the Grand Canyon on foot, horseback, mule, quad bike, kayak, helicopter ride or in a small plane. The temperature in the canyons gets very high during the day, and hikers should take advice from rangers on water supplies, necessary food and avoiding dehydration and heat stroke.

If you are hiking, camping or riding off the main trails, in the backcountry, you will need a permit. Permits can be obtained through the Backcountry Information Center. Rangers patrol and inspect camps they find for permits and to check that campers are adhering to the conditions laid down in the permit

A Whirlwind Tour of Rome

TOP TRAVEL DESTINATIONS – http://routebyroad.com

Even if you spend one week in Rome, you wont be able to see it all. For travelers on the go, though, here is a lightning fast tour of Rome.

Morning Grab a cappuccino and a croissant from a caf in the Prati district, which is right by Vatican City. After your quick breakfast, get in line at the Vatican Museum. It opens at 8:45AM, but youll want to be in line by 8:00 to avoid the throngs of tourists that will soon be arriving. Start out by proceeding to the outdoor courtyard to admire the ancient statues of Laocoon and Apollo Belvedere. The statue of Laocoon, which is nearly 2000 years old, was hailed as one of the most amazing statues of its time. Next proceed through the stunning rooms painted by Raphael and finish up by being blown away by the Sistine Chapel and terrified by Michelangelos Last Judgment.

Afternoon After exiting the museum, head east and pass by Castel Saint Angelo. This giant fortification was often used by Popes during times of war and a lot of fortifications were made by stripping away and melting down parts of the Pantheon. Cross the Tiber and head South East through Piazza Navona. Grab a quick lunch at Baffetos, which serves the best pizza in town, and then head further east until you hit the Pantheon. Veer east until you hit Via Del Corso, one of the most famous shopping streets in Rome. Battle the crowds as you head north on the street and soak in all the ridiculously expensive Italian name brands.

Night Hop on a bus to the Trastevere neighborhood, one of the most colorful areas of Rome. Wander around the windy streets until you find a restaurant that is to your liking. There are many restaurants in this area, and the food is generally cheaper and better than any of the other places youll find in Rome. After a delicious dinner, snack on some gelato and hike up the nearby Gianicolo Hill to enjoy a stunning night-time view of the Eternal City.
