Travel - Home Exchange Websites

If you’ve seen the movie, “The Holiday” that stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet, then you already pretty much know how the home exchange concept works. Two homeowners from different parts of the country or the world exchange homes for a specified length of time. You stay in his

house, and he stays in yours.

It isn’t difficult to see the advantages of this kind of arrangement. The cost of miniscule hotel and motel rooms has skyrocketed over the past few years. Just one night’s stay can cost hundreds of dollars in many locations. When a home exchange occurs, each party gets the use of a home in the area they wish to visit that will be a lot bigger and have many more amenities than a hotel or motel room. Each party gets to live in the real local environment in the area that they are visiting.

Home exchange websites make it easy for people to find in any area to find people in any other area to exchange homes with. Pictures and information are exchanged through a secure server.

Of course, the first question that people usually ask about the home exchange idea is, “Is it safe”? The answer is, “It has been so far and there’s no reason to expect that to change.” Home exchanges have been going on for many years now, and there has never been a single report of theft from the home or one party arriving at a destination to find a vacant lot.

Membership in home exchange websites is not free. Each person pays a fee before they can list a home or talk about a home exchange with another member. Travelers who use home exchange websites are generally well-traveled individuals who know and abide by the rules.
